My Favorite Christian Songs From 2024: Powerful Worship

There are so many great songs from 2024, but which made my top 10? Check below to view them now so you have some new great songs to listen to!

Inspired by Tim Challies, I wanted to share 10 of my favorite songs from the past year. All of these songs had different impacts and encouragements on me. With a few new artists I found, like Josiah Queen and Forest Frank, it’s been a great year for worshipful songs and more peppy music.

There is a Spotify playlist and YouTube links to each for your listening enjoyment.

Take Me Home – Josiah Queen

In 2024, Josiah Queen was a new artist to me, with popular hits like The Prodigal, Fishes And Loaves, and I Am Barabbas. The one that I kept on repeat this year was Take Me Home. While I am on this earth, I am not at home. I know my home is in heaven. This song is a continual reminder that I am to live my life while being heavenly-minded.

Teach me, Lord, teach me to love You like I am a child
I’ve been overthinking, complicated my own life
But I want Your presence here like heaven
And I’m on my knees right now

Take me home
Take me home to the place where I belong
Where You go, I will go
Your presence is my home

I need something real
I need something from Heaven’s throne
It’s not a feeling
It’s just like being home
So, take me home to the place where I belong

All Things – Sovereign Grace

Sovereign Grace Music has always been an encouragement to my faith. This song All Things, is a steady reminder that God is in control of all the circumstances of my life; For His glory and my good.

VERSE 1
When my heart was cold and lifeless
And I wandered in my blindness
You pursued me
And before the world was breathing
You had chosen to redeem me
For You loved me, Lord, You love me

CHORUS
I know You are working
You are working all things
All things for Your glory and my good

Lord, You will accomplish
Everything You promised
All things for Your glory and my good

Your Glory, My Good – Erik Nieder

This song ministers to me, helping me understand that God’s plans are not always my plans. But His ways are good for me, and I need to trust Him. We cannot always trace God’s hand, His works, but we can always trace His heart

If it’s for Your glory
Then it’s for my good
I know You’re with me
You will not forsake me
If it’s for Your glory
Then it’s for my good
If my God is with me
Then what could stand against me

I Set My Hope (Hymn For A Deconstructing Friend) – Keith & Kristyn Getty

Keith and Kristyn Getty always produce powerful worship songs. I Set My Hope is a helpful reminder that the truth of the gospel of God is my firm foundation. It reminds me of the solid rock of Christ and the truth that surpasses my understanding.

For the deepest wounds that time won’t heal
There’s a joy that runs still deeper
There’s a truth that’s more than all I feel
I set my hope on Jesus

I set my hope on Jesus
My rock, my only trust
Who set His heart upon me first
I set my hope on Jesus

His Glory and My Good – CityAlight

Though similar to another song above, it is immensely helpful and informative again on God’s glory and our good. We can trust God and His ways, knowing that everything He is working out is for good.

There is hope in every trial
For I can trust the Lord
He will turn my heart towards Him
And help me bear the thorn
So in faith, I follow Jesus
On the road not understood
For I know that He is working
For His glory and my good

To our God be the glory, to our God be praise
He alone, the name above all names
I will boast ever only in the Lord, my God
For I know His glory is my good

Lowest Of Lows – Josiah Queen

Another Josiah Queen song came by surprise about a month before Christmas. Lowest Of Lows depicts the miracle that the Highest King Jesus put on flesh and became the lowest of lows, a baby in a manger. This song has been a great encouragement to me as I walk through my city and think about the incarnation.

There’s no room in the inn for a Savior
There’s no power to claim for His own
Enthroned in a humble manger
And worshiped by the lowest of lows

Could’ve come down from heaven in splendor
With ten thousand angels all by His throne
But He came like a helpless baby
He became the lowest of lows

Let us adore, let us adore
Emmanuel
Let us adore, let us adore
The son of man

God came to earth and traded His throne
For the lowest of lows

YOUR WAYS BETTER – Forest Frank

Forest Frank has become a regular artist to play in my home. From his lofi-Christmas album to his new album, CHILD OF GOD, his music is always upbeat and God-focused. Your Ways Better is a helpful, upbeat song that outlines, simplistically, that God’s way is better. We don’t always know or do the right thing, and we need the Lord’s help.

Oh Lord, I need you now more than ever
Would you put my heart back together
I searched the world till my head hurt
Just to find out your way’s better
Oh-oh, your ways better
Oh-oh, your ways better
Oh, Lord, your ways better
Jesus, your ways better

hold him high – Citizens, Mitch Wong

The reverence we have for Christ exudes from this song, hold him high. Because of His creating works and powerful acts in salvation, we must hold Him high as our God and King!

Holiest Son of Man
Worthy and lifted lamb
Heaven’s exalted King
He is our righteousness
Light of the world in us
There is no brighter love
Hold Him high, glorious Jesus Christ

Toil – Tyler Corbin

Toil has taught me to remember Christ and that because Christ is alive, I can live well unto His glory today. That I shouldn’t waste any time but be used and spend for His Kingdom.

Oh remember Christ, who rose from the dead

From David’s line and died in our stead

So let’s run, and let’s fight, and let’s toil this land

Til the day that we die or when He comes again

Abide – The Gospel Coalition, Lucy Shea

I first encountered Abide in April of 2024, and it has been a favorite ever since. Jesus tells us in His gospel that apart from Him, we can do nothing. We must have him teach us to abide in Him so that we would bear much fruit.

For my waking breath for my daily bread
I depend on You, I depend on You
For the sun to rise for my sleep at night
I depend on You, I depend on You

You’re the way the truth and the life
You’re the well that never runs dry
I’m the branch and You are the vine
Draw me close and teach me to abide
