“By faith we understand that the universe was CREATED BY THE WORD OF GOD, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.” Hebrews 11:3
Creation
It is essential to look at God’s character and actions when seeking to understand and pray to Him. Specifically, I will start begin with His first act, creation. The first verse of the Bible clearly states that God created both the heavens and the earth. The Bible is wholly unapologetic about this understanding. God is the one who made all things and upholds the universe by the word of His power (Hebrews 1:3). God created all the animals, mountains, all the different earth biomes, and everything deep beneath the sea. He created all things surrounding and, on the earth, and it was all good.
He even created you and me. Psalm 139:13-14 tells us, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” God made all of us how he desired, forming our inward most parts. He crafted each of us for activities of glorifying him and making His name great! Now, going to the end of the Bible, check out Revelation 4:11, “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” (Emphasis added) Revelation 4:11 is an example to us for how we should pray and praise God for who He is, and because of His mighty work in creation. Because of His mighty works, we will praise Him.
Revelation 4:11 and Psalm 139:13-14 serves as examples to us for how we should pray because God is creator. We praise and thank God because we are fearfully and wonderfully made. We praise Him because He formed everything about me by His grace. We praise Him along with the hosts of heaven because He is worthy of glory, honor, and power, because of His creating and sustaining hand.
